Breast Lift

Mastopexy is a procedure designed to correct an unpleasing, sagging breast shape. Many patients think that a breast that appears to be sagging and of low volume can be corrected with an implant alone as the breast seems to be under-inflated. This is true if the nipple is in the right position, which is even with, or slightly above, the fold under the breast. If it is below this fold, the skin envelope of the breast must be reduced and the nipple brought into the right relationship on the breast mound. Many times, the reduction of skin alone will make the sagging breast appear fuller and there may be no need for an implant (depending, of course, on the patient's desired breast size).

Remember that in a breast lift it is the skin only that is reduced. The external scars that result from this procedure vary in length and are located around the nipple and in a vertical line dropping down from the nipple. There is frequently a need to place a scar in the horizontal direction, in the fold under the breast.

This operation is tailored very specifically to each patient's shape and more precise information about it as it may relate to the individual may only be obtained from a personal consultation and examination.
