This is a fantastic technique of fat injection grafting to the face (or any part of the body) to provide an augmentation of soft tissue. It was developed by a plastic surgeon named Sydney Coleman and has proven to be a reliable way of injecting specially prepared fat cells from the patient's own body into areas that need more fullness. The fat transferred using this technique tends to stay alive much better that with traditional methods, providing essentially permanent results. It has been extremely useful in filling the nasolabial folds (the grooves that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth) as well as frown lines. It can be used to augment the lips and fill lines of the forehead and around the eyes.
This technique can provide a nice improvement in lieu of a facelift and has a shorter recovery time. It is not for treating large amounts of excess skin such as may occur under the chin, but it gives the skin a much more youthful, full appearance. It can be a fabulous addition to a facelift.
